That reminds me of the story that he did not report the theft of his wife's credit card as the thief was spending less than she was.

Re this years International Model Boat Show:

1. Following the success of having 10 non-club invited exhibitors at last years show with a diverse display of models the intention is do it again for 2016 Show. Therefore if you have a model and would like to attend as an individual exhibitor it's time to get in touch. What are we looking for? Well, it doesn't have to be of 'Gold Medal' standard however it does need to be something that would cause interest. Either because it's based on an unusual prototype or is something rarely modelled. Even something completely wacky stands a chance of being selected. To be considered either contact Meridienne Exhibitions on 01926 614101 (www.modelboatshow.co.uk) or contact me via this forum. If you know of anyone who may be interested that doesn't tend to frequent the Forum then please let them know.

2. Some of you may be aware that this year marks the anniversary of James Brindley the famous canal engineer ...... with this in mind we are planning to have a mass sailing of model narrow boats. Looking round the Club displays there are always a good number of narrow boats throughout the show, therefore all skippers are invited to join in. If you want to be part of the fun then spread the word and if possible let me know via the forum of your interest in participating.

Thanks
Steve Dean. (Pool Mast & Commentator)

THE INTERNATIONAL MODEL BOAT SHOW 2016

Visit the only 3 day marine modelling exhibition in the UK
Plans are well advanced for the 2016 International Model Boat Show, this annual event is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading marine modelling exhibitions.

Organised by Meridienne Exhibitions the event will take place from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th November at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, near Leamington Spa.
Visitors are guaranteed a packed hall with over 600 models on the club and society displays, demonstrations plus attendance by leading specialist suppliers.  Over 3,000 visitors are expected to attend the show.

To date nearly 30 clubs and societies are confirmed to be attending this unique exhibition with some of the finest marine models on show. Organisers also welcome back the Anglia Marine Model Club and the Model Power Boat Association.

The prestigious ‘Society Shield’, which is voted for by the clubs and societies themselves, will again be awarded to the best club display in the show.

This year will focus on celebrating the 300th Anniversary of the birth of waterway engineer - James Brindley.  Organisers are currently creating a special display to commemorate this and also a special flotilla of narrow boats on the pool.
Also this year, the Pool Master, Steve Dean will again present “Steve’s Top 10”. This will be a special display of 10 unusual and special models selected by Steve himself from his travels around the country in 2016 – if you have a model which you feel could be a part of this “Top 10” please contact the organisers.

Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase whatever they need from the vast range of products offered by the comprehensive selection of specialist suppliers, everything from a single anchor to an entire kit.

As the ONLY 3 day marine modelling exhibition dedicated to all aspects of marine modelling this is an event not to be missed – book your tickets NOW to take advantage of the specially discounted rates which are only available until 31st October (see www.modelboatshow.co.uk).  Social media users can follow all the latest news and updates by following @MeridienneEx (#IMBS) on Twitter or via Meridienne Exhibitions LTD on Facebook.

Hi Skippers,
As you can see Martin has posted the Press Release issued by Meridienne Exhibitions that has gone out to the modelling media, therefore if you're giving thought to entering as an individual entry then do so quickly before all the places are taken. Either PM me via the forum or call me on 01493 369824.
Remember your entry does not have to be of 'Gold Medal' standard, what I'm looking for (as per last year) is a real eclectic mix. So if you've got something unusual, interesting, stunning, amusing, whacky, big or small, then it could be just what we are looking for. Also I would really like a young exhibitor as part of the display ..... so come on Dads, get your son or daughter in the limelight.

Also, don't forget to bring your narrow boat models to take part in the pool demonstration as part of our James Brindley celebration.

I'll also be awarding a couple of Mayhem Medals....  in my own quirky / haphazard / irrational way, i.e to basically anything that personally appeals to me on the day!

Hi Everyone,
Re my last post on the Forum ........ if you are considering entering as an individual exhibitor then don't leave it too much longer to contact me. The press release posted above will be in some of the August magazines and that will no doubt cause the phones to ring. So get in quick before all the 10 places are gone. We already have an interesting mix so the display is starting to come together.

If you are interested just PM me via the forum.

The International Model Boat Show is cruising over the horizon ....... November looms large from the bridge.
THEREFORE if your are pondering on entering as an individual entry then you need to take action NOW.
Sadly one of our exhibitors has had to pull out due to family reasons and as he was bringing multiple models so we now have a big chunk of space that could occupied by YOU.
If you want to join in the fun either send me a personal message via the Forum or call 01493 369824.

THE INTERNATIONAL MODEL BOAT SHOW 2016

Final Countdown to the International Model Boat Show – Ready To Set Sail

It’s the final countdown to the launch of the 2016 International Model Boat Show which will take place from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th November at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

Over 3,000 visitors are expected to attend the show and enjoy over 600 models on the club and society displays.  Over 20 of the leading specialist suppliers will also be present.

Organisers are again seeking individual exhibitors who are not part of a club or society display but who have a marvellous model to show.  All models which form part of “Steve’s Top 10” are amazing models in either detail and/or size. There are just a few spaces left so if you have a model of interest please contact the organisers at info@meridienneexhibitions.co.uk

Exhibition Manager, Avril Spence said “We are looking forward to welcoming our visitors to one of the UK’s leading marine modelling exhibitions the show this year.  Along with all the normal attractions and suppliers for visitors to enjoy and meet the opportunity to see the “Top 10” is one that should not be missed!”

As always the large indoor boating pool will be in full use as all the club members sail their models for the visitor’s enjoyment.  Some clubs demonstrate as a group such as the RNLI with commentary which visitors find is really interactive and enjoyable.  The Surface Warship Association will again lead a poignant sailing tribute at the poolside during the two minutes silence on Remembrance Day.

For younger visitors there will be ‘children’s sailing’ on the pool for their own experience of remote control boating.

As the ONLY 3 day marine modelling exhibition dedicated to all aspects of marine modelling this is an event not to be missed – book your tickets NOW to take advantage of the specially discounted rates which are only available until 31st October (see www.modelboatshow.co.uk).  Social media users can follow all the latest news and updates by following @MeridienneEx (#IMBS) on Twitter or via Meridienne Exhibition LTD on Facebook.

Rest assured Paul - This show is held at the same time every year (Remembrance weekend) and all the usual courtesies are respected.....including the silence at 11am on the Sunday.

Time is ticking by and I have enough space to squeeze in a couple more non-club entries. So if you have something interesting then get in touch asap.
You can PM via this forum, call me on 01493 369824 or call Meridienne Exhibitions on 01926 614101 ......... so stop thinking about and take action NOW.
In case you are still unsure what type of model will be accepted, then it's really dead simple ..... it doesn't have to be of Gold medal standard, it just needs to be unusual, interesting, a rarely seen type of model, or something really whacky. We try and achieve an eclectic mix so it can be huge or teeny weeny or something that just makes people smile. Maybe it's your very first model and you would love to show it to fellow modellers and exhibition visitors. How about something built by a younger person ....... we need to encourage young people into the hobby .... let's face it some of us are now suffering from very advanced youth !!!!!
Don't delay get in contact. O0

Damn really must wear my glasses!
On that note roy, you will like this one.
At the St albans show, one of our club displayed 4 models made from etched stainless steel kits. I put them out Friday on a rotating stand. And on sunday I commented to bother member I thought the eifel tower and London Eye were particularly  good! He then pointed out if was the eifel tower and a penny farthing!
