Yep, i did. I can also remember watching it when it was first aired on the Discovery Home and Leisure Channel! They are building a large scale HMS Fearless.

I've always wondered how they decided to do a big ship model - and how they recruited the team - and where the money came from.

Most TV companies pay on delivery of the video tapes so someone had to front the cash to buy all the bits and pay the expenses - and hope a buyer could be found for the completed series.

And - I've always thought an episode was missing - it goes from a half-finished hull to the last episode with it on the lake in one jump.
How did all the deck fittings get made? The lifeboats, the guns, the radar, the cranes & davits etc. all magically appeared from nowhere.

Does anyone on here know the details?

they did the landing craft and tank last week, and started detailing some of the antenna, the information for those programs seemed out of step by one episode, as it was supposed to be the helicopter as well, I suppose that will be one of the episodes this weekend.

Hi Plastic, I was approached early on and I had a llist of all the features that he wanted.  I suggested that sound, not on their list, might be worth looking at.  Model boat building was usually done on an individual basis, I think he was after a 'group build'.
Transport and size were also talked about.  I said that as a club we could not make the model he wanted.  Funding was mentioned but I do not remember what was said.
He thanked me and went else where.
I have kept details of the contact some where.
regards Roy

The helicopter was attempted, but it was decided that with the technology available back then, it wasn't feasible to have a working model showing the type wanted.
