Motor ID
« on: July 21, 2016, 01:53:02 pm »

Hi all, can anyone tell me if this motor is any good for anything?, other than it's intended purpose.
I pulled it from a printer, it has four terminals, the numbers on it read . 10F6NC and under that 04Z7MA1 with an "M" in a box.
I assume it to be a Mabuchi motor, but can find no mention of it anywhere.
Can it be used for anything on a model boat? and how would it be connected
Many thanks in advance.

With 4 terminals chances are it's a stepper motor designed to move a number of steps and stop.
I don't think you can simply apply a DC voltage to them and get them spinning though?

That is just about my thinking as well.
With some sort of control board within the printer circuits.

It is a bipolar stepper motor. It will twitch if you connect a battery.
Look up Wikipedia and https://www.google.co.uk/search?as_q=&as_epq=bipolar+stepper+motor+driver+circuit

It needs a full bridge circuit where 6-wire unipolar stepper motors don't

Not a great deal of use in a boat then... :-))
