Looks a nice model, but couldn't you ask them to turn the big one round for a better shot?  ok2

Yep, I know what you mean. Had enough trouble with the Harbour Master worried that my frequency would interfere with the international distress channels, took ages to convince him it wasn't a problem - but I don't think he would have accepted me asking for the real lifeboat to be turned on its moorings, I think the build of the model is still on the Torbay Lifeboat website somewhere.

Hi Ship Worm,

I found the photos of your build. I remember reading your online build blog, must have been a few years back now. Was impressed how you managed to get the hull shape, when the drawings don't provide any lines, or many cross sections :-)

Can i ask how you made the stanchions?

Nice model.

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for the comments. The stanchions were made by drawing out the shape on tracing paper and then bending and soldering brass tube. Drilled through where the joins were and inserted a finer brass rod up the inside at right angles. Seemed to work and gave good strength.

Its not a kit, its scratch built from plans supplied by the RNLI. All plywood construction. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a kit at this scale which is why I scratch built her. Other ones were either cheap and nasty little toys or the larger Speedline kit, which is excellent but big, heavy and a bit pricy naturally.
