1/16 VW BUS, WHAT IF PROJECT.
« on: December 22, 2016, 01:50:51 pm »

This is a 1/16 RC VW bus, just a toy but I got to thinking what if the Germans had had them in the war  :D

So, here is my Afrika Korps bus. It has been stripped and painted inside, a driver added, on the inside a Tiger tank spare wheel, some crates and pipes, a box of fruit and eggs next to the driver. MG mounted on roof and also a vent, lights blanked off and a single light added, shovel and fire extinguisher added.

All painted, chipped and weathered. Just need some decals but it is finished.

Si:)

Cheers Nick, that was my thinking. It isn't a million years from the end of the war 1950, so could well have been developed and used, like the beetle, from 1941 onwards. Well, that is what I am sticking to :D

Well I like it- it's a believable vehicle to exist and who knows what could have been built if the war had extended by a few years.

There was a craze for '1946' based what if wargames and I recall someone using Campers as command vehicles, so why not model one as such?

The Kubel proved the concept of aircooled engines and light weight chassis in military use.

Ta Reg. You get to the MG via the sliding roof.
