Depends on the process and material used. Lots of good things happening in the technology, think we will see some major innovations in the next few months.

I believe you are absolutely right.
Now the technology is proven, it is starting to gain acceptance with the public, and the prices are coming down. With the cost barriers to entry of the 3D printing market coming down, the leaders are going to have to innovate to stay ahead.
