Acrylic Wrinkles!
« on: January 03, 2017, 02:49:44 pm »

I am repainting one of my old boats and this time have tried an Acrylic spary paint in a can. I am told this would not react to any other paint but after a light test coat there are large patches that have bubbled up and wrinkled. Is there a suitable alternative in the way of spray paint that will not react? I have no idea what the paint is that I am painting on to as this was a secondhand boat and not originally painted by me.

Hi,   You could use an isolator/ Sealer,  there are a several makes,  I use one called Promatic and as long as you follow the instructions it is very effective.  Hope this helps.

Hello. I had a similar problem with a renovation I was doing, and found the main problem was acrylic on top of enamel paint, the other way round seems to be ok, as suggested a complete strip down and proprietary  sealer over the bare? Wood/surface will be your best way forward. Howard Q.
