Aeronaut Queen
« on: January 04, 2017, 08:03:25 am »

Hi
I am building an aeronaut Queen and am curious about motor, battery and ESC.
In the spec, it says a 8.4V 3800 battery, speed 600 7.2v motor and 25amp esc. The prop is 40mm 3 blade.
What I cant understand is two things-
Would it be right that they suggest brushed motor as opposed to brushless when costs are not that different.
I also cant see what RPM would be needed to get the boat to plane

Any help or guidance on this would be much appreciated

Hi Koi,

Unfortunately, this is still a tricky / grey area / experimental subject. {:-{

Very few boat kits come with specified Brushless option, which is disappointing seeing brushless technology has been around for quite some time now. Mind you, some modellers don't like the 'whine' that some brushless motors produce.....  {:-{

A good place to start is this great topic by AndrewH  :-))

In mine I have a prop-drive 42-58 500kv outrunner from hobbyking with 80amp ESC running on 14.8v 4c 5000mah lipo,goes like stink and with an outrunner no need for water cooling for motor.

Rpm at that voltage would be 15500

Hi all, thanks for coming back, will have a look today at esc, motor and battery to go brushless. As I don't have any spare kit at the moment, will be a fresh set up so will probably go brushless. Any suggestions where to purchase for a good deal would be helpful.

Hi Sparky,

Greetings from downunder!

Thank you for the motor information.
What runtime do you get on the battery?

Thanks
