twin ESCs and W tail mixer
« on: January 04, 2017, 08:18:05 pm »

hi,
I've just fitted 2 ESCs (mtronik 15A) with a W tail mixer, all spins up and turns the right way  BUT  <:( ,
when i go hard over at about 2/3 throttle or above, both motors stop, and then when i take wheel back and apply throttle the max is about 1/4 power even with the stick fully forward ,
all returns to normal once i reboot everything ???

any ideas or go back to 2 thumbs and 4 channels!!!!!!!

cheers

From what I've heard, not all V-tail mixers work the same.
Some are 50% mix some 100%, the 50% mixers work until half way then stop, some reverse after 50% mix.
Some V-tail mixers have selector switches to change to % some don't!

Also, if you have a half decent Tx, you can do the mix setup panel, these usually allow over 100% somehow!

... some - some - some...... three more 'some's' for the new year!

Right having checked with the supplier of the unit and they suggest both speedos are re calibrated  to give full throttle on both speedos. Then reconnect all cables and test out the unit again. More information may be needed on the type of radio being used and if all else fails the manufacture is only a call away. 01943 461482

sorry i couldnt return your call,

i have tried recalibrating them, but as soon as i go hard over they go back to 50% ish throttle, even cutting out with too much speed and wheel applied,

I'm unfamiliar with that transmitter, but I see it does have mixing, I think this is your problem. Try one esc at a time to eliminate this. If it was a plane for example, you would have to set that sort of v tail in the setting, or it would not work.   I have spectrum, and can see on a  digital picture the movement of the channel operation when in use, if the futaba has that feature, then this will tell you what is happening when it all goes wrong.

I suspect you need to dial in a mix to make it work. I'm sure youtube will have the answer in there somewhere, at least illuminate the dual esc thing, then you know they should work. The tx is just not telling them the correct programme
