Have a look at fleetscale, Battlecraft models and coastalcraft models
I know they are mainly warships but some items can be transferred

1:72 seems to be a forgotten scale when it comes to boat building, very few parts available in that scale. Which I find odd as smallish real craft come out at a fair size and biggish real craft come out also at a fair size, ie a 90 metre boat models at around 1.2 metres, a 40 metre boat (inshore fishing boats etc) come out at around half a metre or so.

It seems an ideal size to be totally forgotten, yet go up to 1:96 or 1:100, 1:144 there are loads of parts available. Go down to 1:35 and you are buried under a mountain of parts.

OK, so that takes care of the rant, suppliers? hmm I tend to source mine from Holland or Germany who do a fair amount but even there the preferred scale seems to be 1:50........

First is a link to a downloadable pdf catalogue for ModellBau Kaufhaus drool over the parts available in europe!

This one is the online shop for Hobby Lobby, check out the various parts on the left side..
