micro countersunk machine screws and nuts
« on: January 23, 2017, 05:14:28 pm »

hi all
help  please
Found some nickel plated hinges just right size for the garage doors on my speedline 1/12 Tamar but now having problems finding stainless or zinc plated machine screws and nuts to suit, have tried some suppliers but the minimum order is between £35 to £50 as only 36 are required seems a bit expensive also one company will not sell to private individuals
The hinges came from the states cost £12.50 for 24 including postage and packing so have some spare if any body requires some
hope fellow members can help
thanks

I use stainless steel 0.7mm pins - pre sharpening, then file a line across the top to represent a slot, not great for a fixing, but a good representation of a screw head.

You could try
http://www.prime-miniatures.co.uk/home
Never used them (yet) as my local fastener shop goes down to M1.6 in SS, but kept the link just in case.

Try looking for BA sizes If memory serves 12BA is equivalent to 1.3mm, you might find it easier to look for these.  Maccmodel is pretty reasonable and worth a look!
