Painting
« on: February 06, 2017, 05:57:08 am »

Although not a beginner this is the first balsa model i have built. I finished the assembly and gave it a good coat of fiberglass resin and waited to dry. then gave it a coat of undercoat followed by severall coats of enamel. After a short time the paint came off and now am wondering what next.

Did you give it a good wipe down with IPA (Isopropynol alchohol). This gets rid of the 'fat' from the resin.

Panel wipe (spirit wipe is another name ) will do the same. I use this all the time for every job ....Available from most good Motor factors who sell paint products......yes it comes in Gallon cans BUT it will not go off. You really need to use this at every painting stage, as the grease off your hands can proote poor adhesion....very easy to use wipe on wipe off.
