An interesting new book
« on: February 17, 2017, 07:28:27 pm »

Has anyone else spotted the new book advertised in the back of the latest edition of Model Boats magazine called Far Aft and Faintly?
I thought I would give it a go and bought a copy through Amazon, it arrived yesterday and what a big book! Whilst its all fiction the basis behind is based on certain real events- a what if alternative story of the Royal Netherlands Navy in the Far East. What captured my imagination was the picture of the battlecruiser-carrier (Johan de Witt) on the cover. If you go the website mentioned in the magazine you'll be treated to a fantastic alternative timeline when the Dutch buy the old HMS Lion and HMS Princess Royal and convert them to hybrid battlecruiser-carriers. Bit of a long shot I know but its an interesting take on the what-if stories I've read over the years.

I saw it but did not reister it being fiction. I will read the blurb.
