we set up a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/alba.mouldings

we are a small time operation and are doing this for getting more "modelling tokens" for other models  %)
if you are interested in anything we have please get in touch  :-))

The reason We did a Facebook page was that it was free and also easy as I have no idea how to do a website.
Hopefully as we update the faceache site we can also update on forums such as this  :-))

Give me a break.
There are more of us out there not using facebook than there is.
My valid point was and is, unless I join facebook I cannot view this traders prices, availability, etc without first joining facebook.
Whereas if they were on the internet it is available to ALL.
So as I said Give me a break. I am still on thread about what is available and that I can't view any details.
However it is their prerogative to only want to sell to Facebook customers.

Agreed. Surely it is a valid point that without a Facebook account you cannot see any of the images and you cannot get at a list of what is available? If Alba, Stavros etc have Facebook accounts they might not even have realised this. Facebook users seem to assume that everyone has an account.

I expect that this will be removed but hopefully Alba will have read it first.

I have Facebook,
However I don't assume that everyone else has it.
I used it to keep in touch with a friend in China.

Can you blame Alba for using FB? It's free advertisement for them and no doubt they
do not want the cost of setting up a web page
After all it's by modellers for modellers.
I'm sure a pm to any of the people involved in Alba mouldings
Would get you an email address and then perhaps they could send you a list of hulls available

Or

Maybe they could list the hulls here
And anyone interested in a hull could be sent an email with pics etc.
We wonder why model shops and independents vanish/Give them a chance to get off the ground

There is about 3.2 billion people who can use the web . In the last quarter of 2016 Face Book had 1.86 billion user of 58.1% of Global internet use  , Damn good I say . Mayhem has 7054 users . I think you need to check your facts . If you dont want to use Face book for what ever reason thats fine . But more and more traffic is going the way of Face Book .

Those are excellent and crisp hulls and you have the benefit of a ready range. Kudos to you both and I hope you do brisk trade wherever you market them. Perhaps in the future you will do a set of turrets and major superstructure components as 'Semi kits' to further enhance your hull range.

Gents thanks for the replies.
As stated at the begining we are a small time operation. I am not a multi Billionaire, I am down to my last few millions so we need think smart how we spend the money. I would love to do websites and every show going but we don't have the resources so we need to think smart on how best to use the limited resources we do have. So Im sorry you feel your getting ignored but I am sure you can understand the problem we have and the decisions we made.

Can we now put the Facebook issue to bed? :-))

thanks Carl, you beat me to replying to Ian,
Yes some parts are becoming available. with companies such as John Haynes and Shapeways, we feel it would be daft to go up against them for quality and costs.
Our ultimate goal is to be able to supply the hull, rudder and main armaments.

I will start posting some of the pictures shortly of all the bits ok2

USS San Fransisco
Drawing of the actual ship, this was a pre-war design and rather elegant looking ship I think.

the picture of the Hull showing the Propshaft exit points, bildge keels, portholes, armour belt all moulded in

We have also started the main 8" guns

Some very tidy work on those hulls guys!!!  Very impressed that you managed to mould in the bilge keels and not have them break off when removing the hull from the mould.

Very best of luck with trying to recoup your investments  :-))  - those hulls are a good start for a lovely model.

to be honest so are we  :}
some of the hulls had some slight bubbles alone the edges, nothing a small bit of filler can't put right.
for future hulls we are seriously considering going back to the old fashioned way of a bare hull......

thanks Carl for the nice comments  :-))

As long as you use chopped ends available from Glassplies in 4kg boxes in there it will be fine you shouldnt really then get voids....we used to use this on any area that was tight on rally bits

Gelcoat as normal......spread resin as a normal lay up.....sprinkle loads of chopped into void....stipple down...repeat then lay up as normal.....if you really worried about it....use the old 1oz matt well soaked in resin before the usual lay up....if you do it right then you wont get any extra heat build up in the mould
