Quick background. After moving 7 times in the last 5 years, I finally got to unpack my two sail boats. Both were damaged, but I effected repairs.
Victoria was repaired and on the water, no probs.
Mary J Ward was repaired, then on the water, but she was leaking. I was contemplating a complete strip down to the hull, to check for cracked epoxy joints around the keel box and rudder. I was really not looking forward to that.
Surfing.Feeling sorry for myself I had a browse on Mayhem. I saw Stavros has a Club 500 motor in sales, I thought, "I wonder how much they are?". Curiosity, I don't want one. Then I thought, "Club 500, I wonder how much?" I might want one. So I cruised over to the Club 500 slipway Website.
SerendipityBeing curious I also looked at the Club 500 accessories. I saw the oiling tube for props, and had a Eureka moment. Maybe my boat is leaking because its rudder tube needs new grease. Now greased, took her sailing, no leaks. Hurrah!
And so a big thanks to Martin for creating this playground, Stavros, Model Slipway, and fortuitous discoveries.
Who said surfing was a waste of time? It saved me a major strip down to search for a problem that was not there, at least a day.
