Deans Marine - Victoria & Albert - Launch
« on: March 19, 2017, 09:56:33 pm »

Hello,

I was toying with the idea of having a go at this kit  -  has anyone done this? anyone have any comments?

I'm not looking for a shelf queen , I'm looking for a hard working boat that can take a bit of use and be very practical. Also must go together well and be easy to make

Comments much appreciated also any other similar suggestions

Thanks

I've built Medea and Emden  from deans, so some general observations. I like their kits, other people less so, because they need some simple work to make the fittings good. The hulls are great, and the finished models perform well.
With an open launch like this, keep the weight low in the hull if using live steam, electric drive is no problem, and avoid rough water, open launches swamp easily. I've scratch built a similar model and only use it on calm days for that reason.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Chas,

I just want something robust and reliable to play with.

Do the kits go together well?

Thanks
