that is a beautifully moulded hull, chipchase...........are you going to market that one..........well up to the standards of others that I have seen, and I can't find anyone else that does an Xbow hull of that BIG  size.

I think you should ponder that.

This post is fantastic to see. I'm a short time viewer, first time poster on this forum. There are some interesting thoughts shared on whether on not to use a fibreglass plug, it's not something I have ever considered before!

I haven't made anything this big, although I am currently building a 1:9 scale Riva Aquarama, hope to put a post up soon. However working on the fringe of the offshore industry I have found the x-bow design fascinating and want to build one!

I see you have the plans for the ship, where did you find these? I have been scouring the internet for plans of a well intervention vessel or similar, but have yet to have much luck!

Great to see the hard work so far! Will follow with interest.

i don't have any hull lines, i did manage to get a small drawing showing the basic shape of the frames that i copied and enlarged.
there was quite a bit of trial and error during the build LOL

Make it up as you go along.....another good plan. :}

Looking great so far though!

As I currently have a project in build, I want to develop something on CAD if I can. If I find anything I'll keep you posted.

<:(  I do have lines and was never satisfied with my first effort... so i made a new Plug .
I had to bin it in December as the cold air caused a major stick up in molding <:( <:(

We were one of the first to Market in the UK with X Bow. but at this rate we will be last to the market with the the ''right thing''. (If that's You Plan)

Others have copied us along the way... keep going .. race you :-))

If it Is Orion moldings GRP work you have a nice molding  :-))

I've had a set of builders yard plans for the Ulstein PX 105 x bow for about 5 years. This was I believe was one of the first X Bow to come out of the yard, the ship was named Bourbon Mistral. On a pdf sheet they are 0A0 in size when printed ie very very big and a file so large it can't be emailed.

Hi all, finally managed to get a start on the Ulstein AX102. Rubbed the hull down with 400 trimmed the bulwarks and put a coat of primer on to show up any blemishes. Im quite pleased with the way she looks up to know.

I know her well Brian, my father worked on the tugs in Blyth when i was at school (many years ago LOL )  Chipchase belonged to
Blyth Harbour Commission if my memory serves me well. I have some photos of her when she capsized in the middle of the river.
I think she was put back into service after.

As I mentioned earlier in another post, my son is building an X-bow bulk carrier from balsa, plasticard, (and P38).  Will endeavour to post a photo of same, although not yet completed.  Pete

Hi all, I have had quite a few of my friends contacting me and asking why I had my x-bow hull up for sale after putting so much work into making the plug, so after some thought I have decided to continue with the build.
