Evening All,

The current project is an open launch type. I'm using a 40meg Futaba set and the most elegant solution for the receiver aerial is to cut the aerial and solder/clamp the cut end to a run of thin steel cable (Like bike brake cable but almost as thin as the copper of the aerial wire) which is part oif the standing rigging, ensuring I keep the length correct.
Does anyone know whether the change in aerial material could change the sensitivity of the aerial, or is it a case of give it a go?

The type of wire is not important.  However,  it's location will matter.

If it's planned to be part of the rigging there might be a chance something will short it out during it's use.  This might prove to be fatal, so insulated wire should really be used.

Thanks Ken,

I hoped that would be the case. Luckily the boat is a steamer so the only local electricity is from the receiver pack. I need to use my 40meg set because I need to set the end points on the engine servo so I'm limited to lots of wire. I'll just have to be careful!!
