What has anybody used for the antislip texture on the superstructure front below the windows.


I have used the Valspar texture paint on the deck, but need a brush applied finish for this place on account of the hinges and other details.

Very fine sand mixed with the paint or fine wet and dry cut to shape painted then sealed

The product is  code AG211.The name is Mini Bags of Coloured Sand . I have never used it so do not know what thy call fine .

Years ago I used the grit from a spark plug cleaner. So if anyone has any in the corner of the workshop I would like to acquire some more for my new build. nemesis

I used Badger aluminium oxide powder mixed in the paint for my 1/16 Tamar.

Hi  Boatcaptain.
After undercoating the wheelhouse, I masked off the areas required then sprayed Halfords Textured Paint in
two light coats to get an even textured finish. I found the paint took a long time to fully dry. After the Orange paint was sprayed all over the wheelhouse, it was also left for several days to harden, the textured areas were then remasked and over sprayed with a satin varnish.
The reason for this was that the high gloss orange on the texture looked wrong,the finish reflected too much due to the texture, satin varnish reduced the reflectivity and gave a more realistic finish.
 On the real boats, the textured areas look duller and attract dirt in the texture changing the colour hue of the orange.
I hope the photo will show the effect on the model.

If you have a short blaster Co in your area, ask if they could run the part that need's the anti-slip surface through there system using a used fine short.

I eventually bought some silver sand and sifted it through some fine mesh and used PVA to adhere it.
