Dear  Modellers                                                     25/4/17
 I thought that you might like more news from the edge of the world near Farcet and to let you know the latest news from DEANS MARINE.
 The latest addition to our range of Compact kits is the Sea Kadet training ship  "Houtepen" based in Holland.
 Two version of the ship will be released one with a Vacfomed plastic hull in HIPS plastic for ease of construction, a second version with a glass fibre hull will be release next month and show a active and armed inshore minesweeper to be called H r M s Van Strealen

         Details of the kit of the Houtepen

   Scale 1/72   length 440mm    Beam 95mm  sailing wt 490gms

The VACFORMED PLASTIC HULL in this kit is with hull fenders.  Computer generated LASER CUT 1.5mm H I Ps plastic forms the decks and 1mm LASER cut  superstructure parts.
 A complete set of fittings are included in the kit with all detail parts such as winches, deck fittings, etc, cast in light alloy and resin to add the museum quality of details, Propshafts in stainless steel are cased in brass proptubes, Vacformed parts for motor mounts, Funnel, comprehensive instructions, a C/D of the assembly of the original model with over 600 pictures,  and a FULL SIZE PLAN In colour, to assist in the assembly of this unusual model with a fascinating history, some are still in service and other preserved and open to the public in Holland.

Compact kits are models of small prototype ships
Details and construction are similar to the rest of the models comprising of G/F hull, plastic s/structure, cast metal & resin fittings.
 The kit includes prop & shaft, Full size plan & comprehensive instruction book including details on powering these diminutive models with a standard servos giving main drive motor & electronic speed control for the price of a standard servo.
 As in all kits in the range, outstanding on the water performance is part of the design.

That is a very busy vessel given its length.

Dean's compact kits are highly detailed for their size, and sail well.  I have HMS Royal Marine and a friend at our club has HMS Bronnington.  Personally I would wait for the fibre glass hull version.

Hopefully some of those fittings will appear as stand alone items as they would be good for other 1/72 scale projects.
