Bait boat build

(1/1)

mccastro:
Due to motorcycle accident which chewed up my shoulder and i can no longer cast a fishing rod,I intend to build my self a bait boat,it is a microcat mk3 type.Got the hull and top deck in kit form, from e-bay.i wish to use "tank steering" or variable motor speed as steering,so have a got a load of control and power distribution gear elec's from Action Electronics, the P94 dual esc and miker, the P93 power controller, and a load of other power switching and control gear.I intend to use 12 volts. The problem i am having is choosing a motor type and size for this application.I think i have been unwise and rushed out and bought a couple of MFA 800 motors but they seem HUGE,big and heavy. The boat will be carrying a couple of dead baits as i am a pike fisherman,so not a lot of load, aprox 1 kilo.It will have to push thro' some choppy water though.Could you also reccomend a size and type of proppelor and drive shaft, flexi or fixed.Hope you guys can help with some advice and thanks for reading. you can use 2x 755/40 brushed motor  , there are the best ever brushed motors to be used in  fishing boats  and you can put what ever prop fit inside  the bigger you can put there ,you can look at a 3 blade one  but to be  made to work fully under water  Raboesh ones .Or you can use some brushless outrunners  but you have to use others esc too .
what battery do you intend to use  pb acid or lipo?
Here you can see some movies  with a brushed one and a brushless one  all made by me

Thanks for the reply and advice.i was going to go with 12v lead acid batteries,i have some new 7.0 amp/hr ones.i will look at these motors and see if the current taken by them will be ok for the Action electronics gear/mixer.Thanks again for the motor advice.MikeC.
