VDUB beetle dio
« on: May 02, 2017, 08:17:18 pm »

HI all here's what I'm building as a competition on another place. Can't tell you what's going to happen to the poor fella, think of the warspite dio, there will be at least a couple of explosions, I have a feeling none of you will know where this is going till the last couple of posts. There was a little flash on the parts but the worst bit of the kit is the awful mold seams on all the wings.

Ok, so it is a hand with folded fingers and that suggests a statue of a hand holding something, but what?

The big film involvoing a Beetle was Herbie, but that is definitly not him/her (possibly its cooler cousin from california?) that you have built so possibly not a model from a film.

Back to square one. We need a beard stroking-pondering emoticon.

Ah, is that a monster you are making? If so it must be from a horror film.

Am I warm? Welcome back from your hollibobs:O)

Certainly on the right track, although modernised slightly, probably the most famous SiFi story ever told.

Tremors? It can't be as it was set in the desert somewhere. I don't think Captain Kirk 'cruzed da hood' in a Beetle and I won't go anywhere near Star wars.

I like your roadway and its damage caused by the monster.

Maybe this will help (a quote from the musical)
A huge, rounded bulk, larger than a bear, rose up slowly, glistening like wet leather. Its lipless mouth quivered and slavered, and snake-like tentacles writhed as the clumsy body heaved and pulsated

I have taken certain liberties with the timing and settings, I know there was no vw in the book or film.
I just got my inspiration from the music as I was listening to it at the time I conceived it.

Well some people are so rude. I'm a member of Instagram ( I have been a member for a while but only really started posting model pics lately)I don't know much about social media but normally I just post pics with no explanation so I posted these pics as it gone along, after this update I got 80 likes in one day (that is the most I've had so far) well I got a private massage saying "you should stick to drawing this is crap my six yr old could do better"that's just plain rude, I don't know them, they don't know me, and obviously a lot of people like it, I don't know why people feel they have to make statements like that. I've looked ate some of their posts and they don't even build models (at least if they do they're so crap they don't post them)

You get this on social media sites.   People feel insulated in their homes and free to express any thoughts they may have.

If it's live on site then your best recourse is to complain to the site moderator and object to his posting.  If it's a private email then throw it in the bin.

Go for it Ken!!!!!
A few more in this world could do with a little imagination now and again - and don't fret on the keyboard warriors.... small minded folk like that are not worth the air that they breathe.

Hi all here's the next update (it may not look very pretty I accidentally stood on the engine) I've tried to fix it up a bit (it doesn't really matter as it won't be seen in the dio and anyway no one will be looking at the beetle.

Couldn't resist trying the body on it.

Shod them Ken. I am sure there would have been Beetles in the original ninteen seventies film somewhere so don't worry about it and enjoy your build; we are.

How did you tread on your engine? Table dancing can be dangerous!!!
