Genesis - Seconds Out - Supper's Ready. The ability of Collins to fill Gabriels boots, live and play drums, solo and duet with Chester Thompson/Bill Brewster, a masterpiece.
Jethro Tull........ANY.
Rush - Moving Pictures........Neil Pert is undoutably the worlds best rock drummer, the clarity and punch he produces is breathtaking.
Queen - Day at the Races
Pink Floyd.......ANY.......true musical gods....Comfortably numb!

Sure will come up with some more but these touch my soul.

...already some great LPS mentioned here, and remember them well as I worked in a record shop in 77 after leaving high school.

Love the some of the old prog rock,

Genesis, Selling England by The Pound
The Rolling Stones, Goats head Soup
Led Zep, Physical Grafitti,
then got into new wave punk stuff, now I just check out the band names, and if its clever I'll give them a listen,
so I offer, The War on Drugs, Lost in a dream. Do check it out!

and we have tickets for Ali, Astro and Mickey June 11th in taunton, UB40 version deux!

Sgt Pepper's.

Ok, it is perhaps a throw away suggestion at first glance but My dad and I listened to it from when I was three or four on a Sunday morning (along with other albums) and it has remained one of my favourite albums. It has a good mix of McCartneys 'Granny S**t Music' as Lennon described it, but also has proto rock tracks (Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts club band) as well as slightly more blue and deep tracks plus two heart tuggers in She's leaving home and Day in the life.

You might be interested to know they have remastered the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Album again, to modern equipment standards!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08pvpj1 - start about 1:8 in

"Giles Martin chats to Simon [Mao] about his late dad George, and the 50th anniversary of the classic Beatles album he produced, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

Porcupine Tree........very underated rock band....The Incedent was their last studio album.
Black.......Wonderful Life.....only 2 albums then split,  shame as very good.
Tears For Fears....Songs From The Big Chair.
David Bowie.....suprised he has not been mentioned yet!

Question?

Are Albums the way to go, or do you prefer to build up compilations of individual tracks? The latter is my preferred route.

The Wall for example cannot be split up as it tells a story. To be listened to in its entirety in a darkened room under the influence of some strong beverage...... O0 O0 O0
