PBR
« on: June 05, 2017, 07:11:08 pm »

A clubmate would like to build a 1/6 scale Pibber (as weapons and crew are available from 21st century),Christian in Gibraltar can do the hull but would need to do a minimum of four to be viable, about £95 plus p&p,water jets are available, anyone interested ?

My maths may be suspect, however I estimate the displacement of a PBR at 1/6th scale to have a sailing weight (displacement) of approx 128kg.
If I'm right you will need a lot of lead and some good friends (strong ones) to help put it in the water.

I reckon 42Kgs would be closer to the mark...........

Which does raise the question of power and supply to get this mass on the plane and keep it there

I was going by a 1/24th scale PBR displacing 2kg, then factoring up from there.

Either it wasn't 1/24 or it wasn't a PBR or it sits with the water lapping the deck.  A 32ft by 2ft by 10ft block at 1/24 is about 2 and a bit kilos, a PBR is not a block underwater.

I concur..........working from the top down with a Mark2 PBR at 32feet and displacement 8.9 tons.... At 1/6 scale we end up with 42kg. I'll crawl back into my shell now, suitably embarassed.
