Balne Moor Tug towing "Pro-Am" weekend 17-18 June
« on: June 07, 2017, 10:23:57 am »

Hello Folks,
As usual Balne Moor MBC will be holding a Tug Towing "Pro-Am" weekend on 17-18th June. This is your opportunity to
talk to an experienced "tugger" and learn how to tow vessels through the harbours at Balne Moor.  A course will be set so you can test your skills.
Don't worry if you have not got a tug, there will be tugs to borrow. The cost will be £4 for a day or £6 for the weekend.

If you've seen a flyer saying Mobile Marine Models will have a trade stand at the event, unfortunately this is no longer the case;
however, Clyde Model Boats will have a trade stand on the Sunday so you will have the chance to top up with supplies and
maybe buy a tug hull to build your own winning tug!

At this event the Club is supporting the Alzheimer's Society fundraising event by having a Cup Cake Day - all proceeds from the
raffle and cake sales will go to the charity which supports people with dementia.

As usual each day will start at about 10.30 and hot food and drinks will be available.

Directions to the pond are on the Club's website, just follow the link below.  We're only about 3 miles from junction 32 of the M62.

I've got my shopping list for the ingredients for exciting-sounding cupcakes and am just going out in my little red sports car to buy them all.

Don't forget, all the proceeds from cakes and raffles at Balne Moor this weekend will go to the Alzheimer's Society to support dementia sufferers and their carers so come along if you can on either or both days and scoffalot and/or givealot!

The weather is going to be great so let's have fun doing what we love - tugging - and raise some money to help others.   O0

That's a shame, but I think we are really going to have to think about not having events on Father's Day.

Surely, a weekend up at Balne Moor should be considered a Father's day treat?

To be truthful that was the view of Members when the date was discussed.

The words were - "We are Fathers and that's what we want to do on Father's day".

I've just stripped my DX6 and converted throttle to spring return (all parts are there just needs the springs adjusting) . Also action electronics P94 changed to tank steering! The little Afon is lashed up with a towing rig , bring it on  {-)

A great big thank you for the 'Yorkshire' welcome, nowt but honesty and a good crack.
John and I from HEMBC Lincoln thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the expert tutelage. A hot day but cooled by plenty of cups of tea and cake, thanks. We have both gone home to make plans of better tugs and more challenging tugging courses. A better recommendation to any boater who wants a crash course in tugging could not be made than here at Balne moor.

A big thank you to all who came along today and braved the heat at "Costa del Balne Moor".

Everyone I spoke to had a cracking day and we made just short of £100 for the Alzheimer's Society.

Hold the faith Andy it will be worth it, although I know it is frustrating until you crack tank steering.

Thanks to Kim from Clyde Model Boats for his trade stand.  It was appreciated.

Cheers for the vote of thanks Paul.

I'll post some photos later.
