Monterey Clipper
« on: June 08, 2017, 07:10:52 am »

Hi Everyone
Does anyone know if http://www.hartmanmodelboats.com is still in business. I have been looking to build a 1/6 Monterey Clipper as my next project. The one they advertise on the website looks just the job but I cannot get any response from them. I don't know if its a temporary(three week)glitch or they are out of business. I tried their sister site but got no response from there either.
Maybe there is an alternative that someone can point me in the right direction of.

Thanks
Tony M

As answered on the other site, still quite in business, just a new ordering process, listed on main page.

p.s., my Monterey Clipper reference site:

Thanks Pat.
I was still hoping to find an alternative hull nearer to home as they are similar to the fishing vessels of the Med of that era. I guess they are just not so popular in this part of the world.

The guys are busy saving a lot of the old one man shop companies.
HARTMAN MODEL BOATS is a division of LOYALHANNA DOCKYARD
And  a sister company to:
TAUBMAN PLANS
STAUBITZ OF BUFFALO
BURCHETT HULLS
CHARACTER SHIP MODELS
DYNAMIC MODELS
DROMEDARY
I hope they add Microglass to there list.

Thanks Pat.
The ST Erina at 30ft will scale nicely to just over 1.5mtrs.

I am currently building a motor. Roughly to scale to start with to make sure everything functions correctly and I get a working engine. When I have that done I want to adjust the design to bring it as close as possible to the Hicks engine in the level of detail. The prototype engine is here http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/showthread.php?t=26834 as you will see there is a lot of detail to get right for the final engine but that will take a bit of time to work on some castings. Thats assuming I get this one to work the way I would like.

So I have a bit of time to decide how to approach the Monterey build. Whether to scratch build or buy the hull.
