Identify this boat?
« on: July 26, 2017, 04:48:14 pm »

I have recently purchased this almost built boat and hope that somebody on this wonderful forum can give me some idea as to its origin, was it a kit, is it plan built etc. It is 4ft 6in long with a 14in beam.
Any information would be appreciated.

It's a bit like a Billings Neptune.

The Neptune kit states 880mm long, but MartinL's query is 4ft 6ins = 54" = 137cm.

Maybe someone has scaled the thing up ??

It matches Lorraine pretty closely, length is the same but Lorraine beam is quoted as 12 inches. Cabin layout and window patterns are the same though.

Colin I think your right, Lorraine from the grainy plan and pictures I,ve found seems to match, especially in the shape of the Windows which is where the Billings one differs a lot. Now to try and get a plan or a decent picture so that I can finish it.
Thanks you.

Bluebird's right.  It a little different to the plan but it does match.
I've got the plans in electronic format. If you want I could e-mail them to you and you could get them printed out.

Unbuiltnautilus and Mudway it is very similar and had I remembered the kit may have thought my boat was one, we used to sell them in the model shop I worked at. However mine is a wooden hull and now having compared it with the Vic Smeed Lorraine am convinced that indeed is what I,ve got. ( wish it was the Hanseat though).
Many thanks for your help.
