As one of the small team that put the pool together last Saturday under Phil Knell's leadership, I went today [Wednesday] to check all was going well. The depth was up to 10" deep [the length of my SeaWind yacht's keel] and hopefully, with another two days to go, there will be at least another 3" added which will allow me to sail my 'Alinghi' 32nd America's Cup yacht on Saturday and Sunday. This is due to the fact that we put the straw bales on their sides, giving another 3" of depth. So bring your yachts to sail - it would be good to see a variety of them, even some Thames barges!
You will notice I had a quick sail of my dive boat - just to make sure the water was the 'correct type'!!
See you there over the weekend - it should be a good Show again - bring a boat or two and help make it a success.

CC ...are you relying on rainfall to add the ~~ 3" of water, or is refilling from the hydrant permissible? .....Derek

You need to get in with the local Fire brigade  :D
One of the Country Fire Brigade usually fill our portable pool in less than an hour from the nearest hydrant.  %)
Alternatively get a lot of boaters to eat onions.  <:(

Good morning Derek and Brian,
No, the small 'metered' hose will be still filling the pool over the next two days, our rainfall would not touch this. This is the fifth or sixth year of doing this at this venue and is works just fine. It is not 'legally permissible' to do what you suggest - although I know of a few occasions at other events where this did happen! At the previous venue for this Show - Hop Farm - it was filled from the local River Medway by using a pumped water bowser and a tractor to pull it. Several visits were made and in the drought years we even had to pump it back into the bowser at the end and put it back in the Medway!! The things we do for a model boat Show!! Pity you won't be with us.
