GRP Hulls
« on: August 07, 2017, 07:09:05 pm »

HI,

I am looking to buy a new hull to start a new build. Sometime ago I came across a site which offered a large range of hulls including Afric Star, Clan Ross etc
For the life of me I cannot now find this site. I know its is not Metcalf Mouldings,  Kingston mouldings, orion mouldings or Deans marine but it is a UK site with pieces ii GBP.

Can anyone help please!!

Many Thanks

He has moved quite a few of his hulls on to Mountfleet Models. If you cannot find what you want with Andy at Models By Design, try Mountfleet.

the company you are probably thinking about was a company called ABCO, which died along with its owner many years ago, but not before it was bought out by Model Slipway who when the two proprietors split, the moulds went to Metcalf mouldings, who then passed them on to Models by design, who then passed a number on to Mountfleet models, and so, as unbuiltnautilus says, the latter two are the ones to speak too.

they certainly get around, lol. think they were called either East Anglia models, or Norwich model boats, but that was way back in history.

Jim,
Would it have been Anglia Models
still going today. Think they do Precedent.
Bought a DX6i from them a few years back
at a very good price.

I'm not sure Ned, but I don't think so. they used to work out of a corner shop on the east side of Norwich and apart from the usual modelling stuff on sale there [ I bought a northlight puffer from them many years ago but never built it] but I think from memory their only grp hulls were of fishing boats.

I think Anthony makes some of the best hulls. I have three and each is perfection.
