Veron model accessories
« on: August 02, 2017, 08:20:44 pm »

Hi, Does anyone know how to track down Veron Quality Model Accessories. I have been using some plastic Rail Stanchions item no 102 and need 12 more. Trawling the internet has drawn a blank and I am wondering if the firm no longer exists. There maybe an alternative source. The stanchions are 2 hole and about 40mm high with a flange and locating pin at the base. Most of what I have found seam to be in brass.  Thanks if you know anything.

HI Topsoil sadly Veron ceased trading a long time ago. you could try Modelling  Timbers  they offer a good range of items. Just type on your search engine modelling timbers hope this helps.

Hi I think I have some but the plastic is incredibly fragile, this may not be the way to go.
I will look this morning and come back to you.

P39 and P 40 are  very like the ones that were included in the Vernon Tarpon boat kit (circa 70s)

I got feed up breaking them by holding the model between my legs to cord start the engine that i made some with thick rod soldered and glue into original holes in the deck. They have survived to date but we have switched to a electric motor

Hi All,

Topsoil, if you have difficulty getting something the same as the Veron originals, who went out of business many years back, you can PM me and maybe send me one of the good ones you have left. I am always making moulds of things and can reproduce the originals (with a brass wire down the middle). You won't be able to tell the difference and they will be much stronger.
Or you could treat yourself to a Sylmaster starter kit and make them yourself. (See advert in Model Boats Mag) First make a mould of the original in RTV cold cure silicone, then cast as many as you want in polyester resin. I still make the old Veron lifeboat davits and stanchions when I need them. Graupner stuff will be going the same way gradually.

Cheers..........Ron Rees.

There are a number of model boat shops you could try but have a look at Mantua Models first .or any from this list .https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Model+boat+shops&oq=Model+boat+shops&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.35443j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8  Many of these specialise in parts and spares.   Good luck O0 :}
