Martin's doing a Fun Run?!?
« on: August 21, 2017, 12:01:29 pm »

http://www.phoeberesearch.org.uk/events/phoebe-fun-run/

Not sure how I got talked into this but it's seems I'm doing a fun run in October!!!
Bit of a blur how it happened but the next thing I know I'm using Paypal for the privileged of doing something that I don't even want to do! Ah well, it for a good cause.  I've not ever done anything like this so any advice welcomed.

Reassuringly I was informed that there is full first aid and ambulance services on standby and bring a torch if I think I'm going to take more than 5 hours to complete the 5Km!

Anyway, anyone on Mayhem want to join me?

 Martin

on a serious note..........get a bowl of warm water and add some surgical spirits into it.........soak your feet in it for 30 minutes every night for a couple of weeks upto the run...........it hardens the feet and skin and enables you to get through your run without blisters.

we used to do that before a long distance walk like the Pennine Way or Pembrokeshire coast path...worked well.

Um.... it's only three miles. Let's not get too excited. I probably did that last week walking around Portmouth and Gosport to see the Queen Elizabeth arrive and I have arthritis in my feet!

I thought it was at least 15k, lol..........belay the soaking of the feet...........just harden the mind by taking the spirits internally, lol.

'Training' going well, I can now put on my trainers without getting out of breath!

I when to the chippy last week, only bought chicken kebab meat, no chips or anything else.....
... they looked very worried and put a 'Going out of business Sale' sign up in the window!

HIya Jim !

Have you tried to buy surgical spirits lately?

I did a about 3 weeks ago (before my ambulance ride to A&E I must add) on the 1st Sept. blue lights lots of noise etc... it was daytime and really really exciting..honest %%

The staff in my local Morrisons  looked at me aghast and said oooh no we don't keep that! how about meths then I said inoccently...ooooohhh no chance they told me. I felt like a druggie...ok I'm on 10 pills a Day now but their from the hospital...honest no joke O0 <:(

You can't buy meths or surgical spirits around here for love nor money <*<

You try it yourself and get back to us with your findings :-))

Hope you are well.

John.

I get surgical spirit, for cleaning plastic and fibreglass, from Tesco. Every little helps as they say.

Thanks for the advice about the meths and surgical spirit. I don't know why my local morrisons are so reluctant to stock either of those  %)

Oh well not to worry their loss not mine.

I'll have to send my son to find some, I'm still stuck indoors, I had a funny turn yesterday, legs like jelly...sweating ..tight chest  {:-{
Sorted myself out with rest and a Nitrolingual pump spray...??? from the hospital...ok now,
lots of appoinments coming soon..3 up to now...they have put surgery off untill they have more test results.. think it will still be major heart surgery later, damit italics are back on %% {-)

I would join you but...

I'm in a worse condition !!! hospital have given me a ZIMMER FRAME  :embarrassed:
it's about as much use for getting around as a rubber hammer...

I'm thinking about one of these Tri Walkers for the Blackpool show next month, basket for all the bits and pieces i will be buying..not sure if I will be able to carry a Deans Marine Cossack or Nubian kit in it though (not decided yet, I really like the Manxman, that one is even bigger  %% )... you wont be able to miss me, look for the funny hat too.

I'm in for £5 per kilometer..each %%

It's for a good cause so I don't mind spending a few quid :-))
