Drawer runner type sliders
« on: August 21, 2017, 01:48:22 pm »

Like this photo. I am in need of just one of these, the snag is, I need it no longer than 75mm and a maximum of 10mm wide, so we are talking a micro fitting here. Has anyone come across similar or know where to source one please?

If you don't find anything for drawer runners have a search for linear rails or linear slide. You can get them in very small sizes.

Hi Brian,

Maybe a Red Herring! Google "cd linear drive" and then look at images

I am filling the gaps and assuming you want to make something move - the linear actuators may kill 2 birds with one stone.

thanks threepio, I already have two of in the attached operating my stern doors, but to be honest they are quite weak and lots of 'float' in the nylon supporting piece, ok for my stern doors which are plasticard and are supported by runners, but my current situation I need to suspend underneath the linear rail so these are not good enough - shame as I already have 1 in the spares box. I need the precision of the bearing rail if I can.

Too long Derek, maximum is 75mm length. I think I've found the answer, there is a linear cd drive on aliexpress with two slide rods as well as the linear screw, so the 'carriage' runs level and true. Hey ho, just another stepper motor to add to the arduino  %%
