According to my scale converter app, to scale up from 1/16 to 1/6 multiply by 2.67.

Take a look on google, there are quite a few scale charts/ graphs on there to help you
Just print off the one most suitable to you.

How difficult do you want to make it? Apps? Tables?? Simple logic and schoolboy arithmetic is all you need:

1. Multiply by 16 to obtain the size of the full-scale boat.
2. Divide the answer by 6 to obtain a 1/6 scale reduction.

If you want to be really clever, multiply by 16/6 which, as a decimal, is 2.67.

Having a foot long strip of standard formulas to work from that I have collected over the years, I think having a table of sorts will become innevitable.

It depends on wether the tables are based on practical scales or not. When scaling from images, these scales can be anything, so the calculator will be your best tool for getting the formula.

Also Boatsand Bikes, be careful that your plans are the same scale as I find some draw plans vary across the sheet. I.e, the width of the hull on the top/plan view may not be the same as on the front or rear view, so check and work out your formulas for each dimension on each view if they differ.

Spooky. This question came up on a cnc site I'm on just this morning. I gave the guy the sizes he wanted, scale up a full size car to 52 inches long. I did the calc for him and it came out at 1:4th

Then he came back and said he wasn't working from the full size, but taking his measurements from a1:24th scale car he had and wanted to scale it up  %% %% I also pointed him at the tinterweb, I could see I was going to get roped in to doing all the calculations if I carried on giving advice :}

Hi mike, you can be assured you will (put no one out)on this forum by asking for help
The members would be more put out if they knew you needed help but didn't like to
Ask. THat is my opinion of the membership on this forum anyway.
You ask away Mike, you will always get help if available.

Mike, just get a print shop to upscale the
plans you have by 2.67
Then you will have the sizes you need for
all the fittings you need to refurbish your1/6
model.

Blimey Mike that's a big 'un!

I've got a 46.5" Huntsman and that's big enough for me, well too big really.

If you do a search of the Mayhem site for 'printing', there are a few threads that offer some hints and tips when doing this.

Good luck with your build Mike. Pop some pictures of her up as you build her  :-) You haven't put anyone out, its better to ask at this stage than find out that something went awry with the calculations and your boat is four feet wide and two long eight months into the  build!!!
