Thank you for the info.  It's always nice to see where local shops are and how their prices compare. Let us know how you get on.

I have been quiet on the Tamiya front lately as I've been busy with my latest boat, but that's coming to an end so, maybe a new trailer next. mmmh!

Cheers

I have posted some Dortmund Truck & Machinery pictures here - they are the same scale as Tamiya but very upmarket.

I was so interested that I've been searching YouTube for any movie films of the event.

I have come up with this reference so far.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NkkveaLG_Q&index=36&list=PLP1RlhOjgp08igLPRMrgcx9szO4mgsMmT

When I've finished on here I will be looking through the films.

There are lots of videos for 2016 but I have not as yet seen any for 2017. Having said that some of the exhibits look very familiar.

Enjoy your browsing.

I have just found these films ................... :}

They do like their trains 'over there'.  There seems to be a series of them with very few model boats to be seen.

Admirable engineering however.

The boats were not easy to video. The light over the pond was not particularly good and boats in a large display pond are not easy to photograph well - I know as I tried. The highlights of the boating section for me were the Riva style speedboats on 2 manufacturers stands where the finish was fantastically high, the Omaha Beach display which must have been a real job to organise, get the models built etc, and the vintage hydroplanes which I loved. I say all this as a tug man. The most interesting tug bit for me was a transmitter that had the rotating hand controls for controlling the power pods found on modern tugs.

There was also an A10 Warthog of about the same size. They were built very light & flown with real skill. The pilots seemed to have few problems. The A10 was very aerobatic - with lots of flaps & bits - but the Red Baron (with no particular aerobatic aids) only flew basic circuits.

Tamiya Trucks are still going strong with several clubs now on the internet.

The latest show by the Tamiya club will be at the Warwick exhibition in November 2017.

Yes, I know it's a boat related show but they have been invited to set-up a demonstration slot where model trucks will be run on a complete demonstration circuit.  I have been invited to show some of my vehicles  (on a visitor basis, one day only) as part of the display, and am feeling quite honoured.

Further details coming when I have them.

Any ideas where I may get hold of a ready built Tamiya Flat bed trailer please?
I have just bought a Tamiya Mercedes truck,which I intend to repaint in RNLI Blue,to carry a Atlantic 21and a Y boat.
I understand that Bruder may be an option?
Thanks

Hi Mick,

There is a member (Alan) of SW truckers club that has a shop in Clevedon, Somerset.

see here....

https://astecmodels.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=26_38

I have bought several trailers in the past  (from abroad usually, because they are cheaper) and use them to convert to another design.  The kits do not take long to make, so no worries there.

However, on has to careful about the final scale when related to boats as they are 1:14.

Hope all this helps

Hi Ken,
Thanks for that.I may have unknowingly met Alan at Brean,as a couple of the lads there did some urgent repairs on my Liverpool Lifeboat, which had burnt out a brand new chinese Esc!
Incidentally I applied to join SW Truckers website over 2 weeks ago, annd still cant sign in,as I am still getting  "application pending"
Again aware that they are one 14th scale, which is why I would only carry my RNLI ribs as cargo, because they hopefully wont look too much out of scale.
Cheers

I've seen it done with RIB's and it looks OK, size wise.   :-))

Yes , that would have been Alan.  I often buy small stuff which he brings to local meetings at 'Yate'.  The club site has been quiet for weeks now this morning I can't get on  ??

Hi Paul.  The prices can vary tremendously so have a look around and compare.

Have a look back through this topic for advice on the places to go. Let us know any queries you may have before buying. Also the assemblies can modified as you go along which is better than updating them when built.

Look forward to some pictures when you get going.
