Had the same issue some years back for decal for my odin tug boat.

decided to try water slide printer paper and not gone back. can make what you want. just remember to seal them before putting them on a model and then after putting them on boat(my mate made new decals for his u47, after the first dive they all came off, still wait for a duck to come past with U47 on its side {-) )

these are what i use https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inkjet-Waterslide-Decal-Paper-Sheets/dp/B006DFDTF4

cheers

I, too, would recommend David Leftley, he has done a fair amount of work for me and is now the decal supplier to Speedline Models. Highly recommended

Like timgarrod, I make my own using the same method. Even though ink jet printing is not waterproof, 3 coats of clear spray on the decal ensures that water does not affect it. While laser printed material is not as affected by water as ink jet, it still needs protecting with the clear spray. I use Septone Clear.

Just started tinkering with it myself, who knows what typeface the RNLI use for the name boards?

Hi , I have a Silhouette Cameo 3 cutter. Very easy to use and gives decent results. I needed the larger size to make markings and registrations for model aircraft but have produced boat lettering with it. The smallest letters cut so far have been 4mm high. The Cameo has the autoknife which sets itself to the correct height for the material being cut reducing the amount of setting up.

Hi regarding these decals I have a Plotter to make these if you just want the FIRE for the side of the boat then I have used white glossy Fablon then print it on the back in reverse so when you cut it out it's the right way, if you want something different
