« on: November 12, 2017, 10:26:26 PM »

FOR SALE FUTABA 6EX 2.4g RADIO SET, with Tx,Rx, Charger, 4 servos and instructions. As new and unused, never taken out of the box (except to charge the Tx).  About 9 years old so I cannot guarantee the capacity of the batteries.  I would prefer cash on collection, but I can travel up to 50 miles from HG5 to meet up for the cost of fuel.  Price 75 ish.

I bought one of these 10-11 years ago and it is still going strong. Made for aircraft and Helos but easily adaptable for boats. There was a recall shortly after I bought it but I cannot remember what for, some problem with the earlier models. Mine came back with a 'I' sticker on the bottom of it. Perhaps somebody can throw some light on the problem and the timing. On the downside Receivers are not the cheapest, around 65-70.

The recall was due to a problem with the transmitters i.d. number. Each 2.4GHz Tx is supposed to have a unique i.d. number which is used when binding to the Rx. The Rx will then only listen to a Tx with this i.d. number. A batch of Tx were sent out without this having been programmed in at the factory and used a default number. This meant that an Rx bound to these could be operated by any of the transmitters in the batch giving interference problems. The recall called this batch back and replaced the circuit boards with properly programmed ones and the problem was solved. (Model shops had receivers bound to the generic i.d. , if your Tx worked it then it was recalled. If it didn't work yur Tx was OK.)

I have two of these superb transmitters.  You can use Orange receivers with this excellent Tx.  They are available from Hobbyking  and are much cheaper than Futaba's own and are very good. They have the advantage that you can set up a failsafe position on every channel rather than just one on the Futaba receivers.  Hobbyking also sell FrSky FASST compatible rx's which are virtually identical electronically with the Orange ones. I use both as well as a genuine Futaba.    https://hobbyking.com/en_us/orangerx-futaba-fasst-compatible-8ch-2-4ghz-receiver.html

Hobbyking also sell Corona FASST compatible receivers but these seem to have quite slow servo reaction times compared to the others

In case anyone is interested and cannot get to meet up, I can courier for 9.50 and accept Pay pal or cheque payment; if this helps
