They are great ESCs for small models - just make sure you get one without a brake.

My mother in law lives in Whyalla where there is a preserved example of the class.

Yes, was fortunate enough to get on board after she had been set up for display.

According to the article....the all up weight of the model should be about 320gms to match scale displacement.  So rc gear should weigh about 60 to 100gms.

This is going to be a interesting build / builds to be following  :-))

I just received my kit today and is planning the electronics and other stuff, had the Modelboat magazine July 2017 on stock and the same with the Ship Craft book.

As I will not be attending the Warwick 2018 show,  I will not request a specific name / number but just show my build when all the parts has arrived here in Denmark.

If anyone is contemplating changing the railings to etched ones, Justin at Fleetscale has some lengths of 9mm high 3-rail at a fair price.
I'll report further when I get mine.

They're not standard ones, apparently a sort of job lot
.
I'd asked about the standard 1:128 ones and he asked me to phone him.
They're a tad smaller than the 1:128 so should suit the 1:144 ish.

Since I'm doing the full US conversion it wasn't justifiable to buy the Eduard ones so 4ft of railing (including enough for major 'errors') for £15.00 or so inc. postage seems a good idea.

If they come in the post tomorrow, I'll advise accordingly.

Hannants do the l'Arsenal bridge set for about £7.00

Just received the rails from Fleetscale. Very nice and clean from 0.4mm brass. Three rail type with the stanchions 8mm high and the top rail/bottom rail distance at 5mm. Space between stanchions is 12mm.

Thank You Justin.

I couldn't find them on the Fleetscale site, could you provide a link?

There's no link Les.

You'll need to phone Fleetscale and speak to Justin who had them to one side.

Ok could not find any of my M2 propshafts! I know there are at least 6 in my stock!!!!
So ordered a Rabosech M2 prop shaft from CMB. Delivered yesterday. Hopefully over christmas I will get this fitted and carry on with the build. Been looking at the after market sets available, and other than the railings om still not sure if they are worth the money.  I have seen the complete 3 sets for £45 so  i might get them as individually they are £30 per set.
Been looking on shapeways as well. Some interesting nits on there as well.

I got the M2 shaft fromModelboatbits and the casing is almost exactly the same as the moulded stern tube on the model, so with a bit of devious cutting and filing I managed to slide the one into the other.
I've also reinforced the main hull join with some garden polyester fleece and Araldite. I've almost completed the scratch 4"/50cal deck gun and will then make the 3" on the basis of getting the nasty bits done first >:-o
