Right. Finished work and the build continues. Have glued the hull and trial fitted the prop shaft, needed some fettling but sorted now. Dry fitted  the deck and cut the for deck at the breakwater. Will upload some pics later.

So far i have trimmed the new propshaft hole. Joined the hull and trimmed the deck at the breakwater. Next up will be to reinforce the hull join then fix the prop shaft in and make the rudder post . Have started to make extra deck supports around the edges

Hi everyone

I’ve just started my build of HMS Pennywort using the pictures of the 1/350 scale kit by Mirage and some from John Lambert. Only the hull is stuck together at the moment but I’ve removed some of the moulded detail to match the pictures. This means the removal of the Hedgehog launcher rails and the locating tabs for the Snowberry lockers forward of the bridge.

To be honest, I slightly lost the plot in that Impulse has become Intensity! Mainly because one of the best pics online was wrongly named %) , at least that's my excuse!

Anyhow, here's the build sofar. Main bridge structure raised and angle supports substituted for normal ones. Bridge area enlarged. Main gun tubs reconfigured. Oerlikon supports fitted. Main deckhouse shortened. Most of the portholes filled in. 4"/50 cal scratch built. Hedgehog location lifted etc.etc.etc.

Cheers

Small update. Have not been able to get in my loft, but my good friend Tony Dalton managed to get my propshaft cut to size for me and made a nice motor holder plus a coupling!
I have now cleared the loft enough to carry on......but i have seen tonyh model in the flesh. I might give up!

Nah, don't do that!

Mine's stalled at the mo 'cos it's to cold in the shed to consider putting a coat of primer on and I'm making the normal sort of muckup when it's cold and the eyes and fingers are well out of scale with the model! >:-o

right.....have the motor and prop shaft mounted. will do pics later. i spent all last Saturday afternoon doing the rudder assembly. Ive gone with the kit one. so i cut off the fixing tab. found some brass and had another look. the rudder is not wide enough to drill a hole in, so i marked where i wanted the brass to attach to the rudder. i made a 30 degree bend in the brass and flattened the end of the 30 degree bit. i offered it up to the model ensuring the prop would not fowl. i cut and outer tube to act as the rudder post and checked all was free moving. took toge rudder off and lokked for my 1mm o rings and washers i would need to seal it all.  in the mean time, the dreaded rudder monster appeared and disappeared with my rudder.........
3 bl***y hours looking for it! not in any of the boxes i opened up for the o rings, on the desk, floor in the boat ......in short nowhere to be found! now without the original a could not even a home made version! so went and had dinner. wife asked how it was going. i told her what had happened. she then produced my rudder telling me i should be more careful.....turns out she had come up to see me and while I was getting the washers she reached over and took my rudder.amused i was not. i could have finished that section but as it stands it still is not complete as i had to go out! so not finding my wife funny at the moment......but it does beg the question.......is she behind all the disappearances of my modelling stuff? bearing in mind Ive lost 2 spektrum dx7s controllers, 1 boat and several tools.

Since I'm into a USN version, I'll have a fair few spare bits such as most of the armaments, mast etc. so if anyone wants them let me know.
