Looking for complete steam plant
« on: November 30, 2017, 02:42:59 PM »

I am looking for a small complete steam plant to be installed into a ship model. The plant should include a boiler with gas burner and fittings and a two cylinder steam engine, preferable a compound. Here some dimensions: Boiler diameter: 60 mm, boiler length: 170 mm. Steam engine height from crankshaft: 70 mm, engine length: 70 mm.

I think you would be better going on to a specialist site for this sort of request.

Trying to find one manufacturer for your complete steam plant can be a difficult thing these days

Try this build link...http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,57420.msg617737.html#msg617737

Here our member Trafelspitz.....[or Christian name Dom] ...... chose a complete plant from Regner in Germany................after reading, you could consider viewing the Regner WEB site as the have a number of alternate complete model  marine steam plants......and accessory elements that could be added in

I have no actual knowledge of Regner, however I am sure Dom would offer comment if asked

Thanks Derek,  i have to look also Regner's possibilities. In fact I have found a few very nice steam plants, but there is always problem with the boiler, which is too big. My boat model is quite narrow, so it cannot bear very big boiler. Maximum boiler diameter should be something like 60 mm.

Pendle Steam produce a 2 1/2 " Horizontal boiler which would be a fraction over 60mm diameter.

Yes and he will be able to supply you with a gas tank and separator. All you need then is a TVR1A engine from Graham Indutries and your away

Stuart models sell marine steam engines and also boilers and fittings, ready made or as kits, not particulars cheap mind but good quality with materials. I'm currently matching the 10v kit

Thanks 110samec. I have to look at this option too. I have thought that Stuart's products are a bit too big for my purpose, but it may be that they have smaller units too.
