unknown engine set up info and price guide please
« on: December 02, 2017, 09:19:05 PM »

Hi guys, new to this section and know begger all about it.
I have acquired an engine, boiler, burner, gas cylinder and oiler setup to sell for a friend who sadly passed away last year,
I am selling it on behalf of his widow and have a guy who is after one to run in a boat.
But how much do we ask, I know nothing and the owner don't know either, and we don't want to rip off or be ripped of either.
If the buyer is willing to pay the value of the stuff then fine, if not then it will be up for grabs on here, so we need the best price we can get, I am making nothing from this so all profit goes to his widow.
So here are the pics.

Would the boiler need testing as it is an unpredetermined age?

I would say 150 and let buyer beware of
the boiler test if no certificate supplied.
150 would be fair to both parties IMHO.

Thank you guys , the quotations are what I needed, as I didn't want to sell it at a rip off price either way.
I will let the owner know first and then if the ball park price is good the potential buyer can be informed
just how deep he has to go into his pockets.
And of course it is sold as seen with no certificate on the boiler.

I have found by bitter experience that it does not pay to tell the seller what they are going to get, money wise,as it does not give you room to manoeuvre as regards to what you can get. You may have to drop the price to get a sell. nemesis

At the end of the day the set is only worth what
someone is willing to pay.
If the buyer is happy with the ballpark
price, the let the seller decide if the
offer is agreeable.
