New Radio..
« on: December 11, 2017, 04:05:00 pm »

Hi guys

i decided to buy a new transmitter as the one i currently own is decent but only 3 chan & i want at least 5ch so off i went on the hunt & came across this..

Its a Flysky FS-i6S 2.4G 10CH AFHDS 2A which is basically a Touch Screen 10 channel 2.4ghz budget system (£46 delivered!). Ive been on the RC scene for many years & Flysky which is the brand of this radio is a decent manufacturer of RC radios, many guys i meet up up with regular with our largescales use Flysky & have never had any problems. It comes in a choice of white or black, I decided to be different & go for the white :)

The thing you see sticking out from it is a removable Mobile Phone/Tablet holder.

Will update when it arrives & gave it a once over \o/

It looks almost toy-ish, but the Flysky stuff is good, and simplicity is always better.

Are you planning on using FPV?

Several of the guy at our club use these & like them. The picture doesn't do it justice, it looks good & feels nice in the hand. I've been a dedicated Futaba user for decades but if was starting again i would buy one of these. There is telemetry that monitors the RX battery level which is useful, but turn off the range alarm as it seems a little over enthusiastic at times. I'm not aware of anyone having range issues so far.

It only gives 10 channels using the sbus system which means extra hardware to use. Only 6 channel using normal servo connections. Also no trims on the sticks without going into the programming so adjusting the rudder on the move might be a bit tricky. It seems to be basically a drone controller.

yup its a drone TX, but trims aint an issue for myself, if i had an RC power boat then yup, but even then not really an issue, with my largescale FG truck the only times i use the trims is if i notice the steering is off, so adjust.. but thats once in a blue moon, once trims are set then ther'es usually no need to adjust trims again, especially with an RC tug as all i will be doing is chugging around a lake so the steering (providing its all setup correctly using the EPA etc) should never need to be adjusted. Thinking about it, the only time ive had to adjsut trims is when i completely strip my FG down for a clean & take all the radio gear out, it usually requires some fine adjustment so i adjust trims, but that's the only time..so for myself, having trims on the touch screen is defo no issue :)

6 channels is plenty for me, i will only be using 4 maybe 5 max.

Ive always been a "stick" type rather than trigger type, so when ive bought new TX's for surface they have usually been ones used for RC planes as trying to find a dedicated stick TX for surface was difficult unless you spent upwards of £200 But never had any issues really, the RX i use now for my FG is a Core Code 3 chan which is a dedicated TX for surface (i use 3rd chan for remote killswitch which is a MUST for largescale petrol trucks).

But end of the day, this TX was £46 ...which is less than what you would pay for some Recievers! ...All i need is the bog standard Forward/Reverse & Left/Right along with switches to turn modules on/off & this Radio will do just that :)
