Hi there iam new to this hobby and would like to know how big is the prop for a Vosper pt boat 1.32 scale theres a plastic one on it but i want a brass one can anyone help please ...

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the Mayhem!


Prop sizing are not a 'precise science', depends on motor size & power, battery Type & voltage,  Hull design, shape, size, weight, prop position, required speed, depth of your pockets, etc, etc. Best place to start is a brass prop of a similar size and pitch!

A soldered brass prop may not prove to be very robust in high power installations......!

Hi Tim and welcome to Mayhem. First is the plastic prop 2 or 3 blade? Have you sailed it with this prop? if so how did it go and what size is the prop? Brass props are stiffer than plastic so you might have to reduce the diameter slightly.
Come back with the details and can advise further

That looks like a racing 'X' prop on it at the moment, what diameter is it?

Hi Tim, Had a close look at your pic, it looks like the prop has been fouling the hull, so its to big. Weird way to mount the prop as well, a nylock nut with an alloy spacer behind it!!!!!


Show a pic of the motor, also if you can remove the prop from the shaft so can see the prop driver, depending on the motor and space i'm thinking about 40mm 3 blade brass, nice ones from Raboesch, but all depends on the motor, pic and any details such as name, size etc.

I don't think that it's that prop that has been fouling the hull!

It looks like the shaft is too long for the tube, unless the inner end has been badly fitted. A picture or two of the motor and coupling will help.
 Tim, no one here can just name a prop for you, the prop has to match the motor. If you help us, we can help you
