Quick tip, mixing epoxy
« on: January 22, 2018, 06:17:19 pm »

Are you one of those who mix up epoxy or other glues on scraps of whatever is to hand? Perhaps a bit of wood or plastic maybe? Well this is your saviour!...

Post-It sticky pads :} Get yourself one of these pads, mix your glue, paint or whatever on the top sheet. Then peel off and dispose when finished with it. A pad lasts for ages. since I've been using this my workbench has been much clearer and less likely to stick an elbow or a valuable part to a cast off bit of scrap with glue on it.

Reading the instructions first....

Most epoxy adhesives are mixed by volume and resin and hardener are often quite different densities so most are always measured  by volume unless you know the exact weight per ml of each or the instructions say to by equal weight its best by volume.

Laminating and coating resins are usually by weight though.

LoL I've been using post-its for mixing glue for 20 years or so but I figured it was a terrible waste these days.  The trick for me is to use whatever scrap of paper etc. and fold it over afterwards.  No need to use perfectly good post-its.  Any bit of junk mail you can't return should do.

I just use the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner. Actively sucks it all up.

I think it's better to catch as much as possible rather than vac it all. No matter how good the filter the smaller particles get redistributed across the room. This poses the age old question of whether to dust then vac or vac then dust  {-)  even cleaners will argue over that one  O0

I should have bought some while raiding poundland  {-)
