RAF crash tender
« on: March 19, 2018, 04:19:30 pm »

Hi.

A couple of years ago I purchased an old Model of a RAF Vosper Fire Float, or crash tender, originally an IC powered boat, with a length of 35 inches.
It was in worse condition than I thought, I would love to see it up and running, however I have limited time and experience.
House moves and divorce have stopped any progress so far, now looking at it, I'm not sure if it is within my ability.

I am looking for suggestions, advice especially regarding fittings.

Hi

A fittings kit would appear to be available here http://www.slecuk.com/balsa-wood/Crash-Tender-Fiting-Kit-PR802A.html

Post some pictures on here, you'll get some feedback on the best order to tackle the problems.
Tackle 1 problem at a time
Don't be discouraged if it looks bad, it's only wood and can be fixed.
Take your time, it doesn't mater how long it takes.
Hope that helps.

Hi essexbill

I am also in the same boat (no pun intended) I got a old I/C Fire Boat last year that is in need of some TLC, I think that the mice may have made it their home at some time, so the inside of the hull needs cleaning, part of the deck needs to be replaced were the I/C was located also the rear deck well needs to be replaced.

I wish you all the best in your rebuild and as has been said if you think you can not go forward just ask as some one may have had the same problem and has the answer.

Many thanks for all of your replies, I will be contacting Selec later in the week and post some photos of the boat as she is at the moment.
Once again many thanks for your replies, and Fred lets see some of photos of your boat.

Given this a lot of thought and seeing one come up in the For Sale section swayed me, so I now have an up and running model, mine will sit in the caravan for the time being, my new purchase might inspire me.

Hi

I would think that now may just be the time for you to sit back and take account of what you will need to put your other boat into working order.

In the mean time just go and enjoy your boat.
