5w-30w GTX?
« on: March 20, 2018, 09:45:39 pm »

Seriously, what oil is used to lubricate the prop shafts in model boats? I see lots of photos of oiling tubes in other people's models. Do you use good old fashioned 5 in 1 or will a drop or two of motor oil do?
I know you can remove propshafts to re grease them but I'm asking about the oil you put in the oiling tube.
Thank you.....

biggest problem with oil in the stern tube/ propshaft is the very low washout level of oil, stern tube grease has a very high wash out level meaning that a good grease should be able to take to water pressure without washing away no lithium soap based grease should be used as it's too easy to wash out I use Morris K99 grease for my 1:1 boat and I also use it on my models and I only have to top it up every 50 to 70 hours of running on my models
