As you probably know I like to make the occasional aircraft kit to try out different techniques and just because I like to build aircraft once in a while!
The first is Airfix’s latest 1/48 scale release: the Hawker Sea Fury FB.11
Lovely model with only one thing missing- a gun sight- other than that it’s one of the best fitting, best detailed, and physically beautiful kits I’ve had the pleasure to build recently. The only extra item I have added was an Eduard seat belt set. She’s still not finished but pretty close.
The second is one of my favourite FAA Cold War jets: the De Havilland Sea Vixen FAW 2
One of Airfix’s earlier releases when they were taken over by Hornby. The wings were not the best in the unfolded position so I decided to go for the folded option- not a brilliant move either as they are a pretty big lumps of plastic and required some reinforcements. The only thing I replaced in the kit were the wing mounted pitot probes which were replaced with brass items from Master Casters.
