WW2 LIFEBUOYS COLOURS

Just what was the HDML /MTB/MGB lifebuoys painted in WW2 some models show orange some modellers show white with the standard 4 red bands and some show Grey same as hull do not wish to be a rivet counter has much as I dislike these Oxygen thieves I just would like to get the HDML correct and of course most photos are in good old black and white all help would be great tassie48

I have seen them in colour pictures being yellow and red quarters


That’s what I did on an armed trawler.

Thinking out of the box. Different nations may have used different colors, and merchant vessels may have been differed from military, and different companies, and perhaps different branches of military had differing standards. I don't know the answer, just raising the thought. It might explain the variation.

Logically they would be the same camo colour as the item they are attached too. Otherwise why go to the trouble to camouflage a ship just to have a bright red or yellow object standing out.
