Robbe Atlantis Advice
« on: May 14, 2018, 06:30:56 PM »

Hi Sailing experts,

I was wondering for those that owned an Atlantis kit what is in it ?. I have a huge box with a hull, superstructure, some other bits......it looks pretty sparse and incomplete
It does have the usual boxed extra fittings and wood set, maybe the rudder was an extra...

Should there be sails with the original ?

It looks like a cracking boat to build, not overly into sailing but might with this one.....or might get rid if to much hassle to get all the parts now that its out of production

Cheers

There should be sails for sure, think fittings were separate. Rudder should be with the basic kit too.

Ok Tom, thanks

Lead weight is an extra by the looks of it, i see a rudder is for sale seperately ( so wasn't sure )

fittings were extra , extra wood pack is an extra.....so i am basically missing lead weight and sails  {:-{

pj sails or nylet do a set of sails but they are expensive.  last i looked about 240 do you have the masts etc? the lead weight was 115 about 3 years ago. Cornwall model boats were doing the mast and boom profiles not sure if they have any left though. might be worth giving them a call.

Thanks Klunk

Did the kit come with sails ?...as i saw another build thread and no sign of sails when he showed the contents of the box

I saw cornwall still had the weight

Something to think about

If my memory serves me correctly the Atlantis I own had it's build /review published in Model Boats magazine a few years back - I will see if I can find the magazine which might unravel some of the kit content

Model Boats Magazine December 2011

http://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/article/model-boats-december-2011/8767

A quick eBay search on "Model Boats December 2011" should locate a copy of the magazine you could purchase which might help

I made a set of sails for mine from rip stop kite material. It's surprisingly easy to do!

Cheers, i may have contemplated that as opposed to shelling out 240 odd

It just so happens i checked a few hours ago at my container...

There was a false floor in the bottom of the box, it contains the sails and extra plasticard  :embarrassed: %% {-) {-) ......the huge joy and relief far outweighs how dumb i felt  {-) {-)

There was a lead time of 6-8 and 8-12 weeks at the 2 places suggested...
