Touch up blending in
pipster:
Hi,
I've caused a little damage to a gloss finished wheelhouse painted with Halfords rattle cans. I'm beyond the point that I can strip all of the fittings off and so was wondering if I can repair. Is there a way of only painting the damaged area and being able to blend it into the existing finish?
Thanks
Phil
Klunk:
if it is fine with halfords rattle cans then you could try the touch up pens from halfords.
RMH:
Trouble with those touch up pens is they don't appear to do them in lifeboat colours
Colin Bishop:
I have had success by spraying some paint into the rattle can top and then applying it to the damaged area with a soft brush while it is still wet. You have to be quick and put it on with one stroke but it does work. If you do get a bit of a run then wait for it to dry and sand it down lightly and have another go. It often does blend in but you might want to practice on a bit of scrap plastic first.

As Colin, but used an airbrush. Sprayed from Aerosol into a airbrush jar then into cup.
