Jackson outboard gears

I've had one of the above for years, first running its stock 380 and later a 540, and on a 6 cell ni-cad pack it ran my semi-scale ON Class outboard racer a treat.
However, as with all Jackons it got through gear sets like no tomorrow, especially with the 540, and I've now run out of spare sets. You used to be able to buy just the shaft and gear sets as spares, but not any more.
So does anyone have any suggestions for replacing the gear set?
I have two Graupner GTX-500s, but they're 'short shafts', in RW parlance, as opposed to the Jackson's 'long shaft' and it'd be difficult if not impossible to make them fit the boat as it is.

Can 3D printers print metal tough enough though?
I have oodles of knackered gear sets in my 'spares box' of course. :-)

are all the gears metal?, you could print the nylon gears and they will be pretty tough failing that if you can work out the gear module you could probably find a source for the gears - somewhere like this

The early versions had metal pinions and nylon bevels, and ditto spur gears at the top of the shaft, but the later ones were all metal.
Sadly they had almost exactly the same wear/fatigue life and were MUCH noisier.
